Fetterman about Iranian strikes: ‘It really demonstrates how it’s astonishing we are not standing firmly with Israel’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) criticized the U.S. for not firmly standing with Israel in the face of Iran’s aerial assault.

During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Fetterman emphasized the importance of providing additional aid to Israel without any conditions. He urged the United States to firmly support its ally, especially in light of the recent missile and drone attack by Iran on Israel.

In response to the situation, the speaker expressed a couple of thoughts. Firstly, he emphasized the importance of standing firmly with Israel, highlighting the astonishment that we are not doing so already. He firmly believed that there should never be any conditions placed on supporting Israel, especially in light of the fact that they face threats such as the launch of hundreds of drones. He made it clear that he would never entertain the idea of discussing any conditions in this regard.

The United States played a crucial role in helping Israel repel an aerial attack of over 300 missiles and drones from Iran during the night. In light of this incident, Israeli Cabinet officials are convening a meeting on Sunday to determine the appropriate response. However, the United States has made it clear that it does not intend to escalate the situation into a broader regional conflict.

According to Fetterman, Iran may have been trying to make a statement in response to an alleged Israeli strike that took place earlier this month. The strike resulted in the deaths of members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at an Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.

“And secondly, in my opinion, I believe that Iran felt the need to retaliate after Israel’s attack on the Iranian general, and I must say, I find it quite entertaining. It’s all just a show, after all. And lastly, this incident serves as a reminder of the volatile situation in the region and emphasizes the importance of supporting Israel. That’s why we need to stand firmly by their side,” expressed Fetterman during his interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

He refrained from providing any guidance on Israel’s appropriate course of action in response to the attack.

“I won’t offer any suggestions on what Israel should or shouldn’t do in that regard. However, it is clear that Iran is content. They have provided substantial financial support to their proxies throughout the region,” he acknowledged.

According to the speaker, Iran is not capable of confronting Israel or the United States directly. Instead, they prefer to maintain the status quo and rely on their proxies to achieve their objectives. After making a statement or proving a point, they may choose to retreat and operate more covertly.
