Sammy’s cause of death remains uncertain, as the Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation, in collaboration with the Greenfield Police Department, is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
“The loss of Samuel Teusch is deeply heartbreaking, and it has brought immense sorrow to our school corporation and the wider community. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family during this difficult time,” expressed the school district in a statement provided to FOX 59. “Sammy was a valued student at Greenfield-Central for the past year and a half. He successfully completed his 3rd grade at Weston Elementary School in May of 2023 and had been attending Greenfield Intermediate School as a 4th grader for the ongoing 2023-24 school year.”

On May 10, Chief Brian Hartman of the Greenfield Police Department took action by releasing a press statement to address the spread of “rumors” within the community. These rumors even went as far as naming children, causing concern and unease among the residents.
“I want to reassure our community that we are actively investigating this tragic incident, just as we would with any other case. We are diligently conducting interviews with individuals who may have information related to the incident. This is our standard procedure to separate facts from speculation,” Hartman emphasized. He further explained that due to the involvement of children, certain details cannot be disclosed to the public.
“Now is the perfect time to have a conversation,” Hartman emphasized. “If your child is experiencing bullying, it’s important to speak out. Empower your children to confide in a teacher, school counselor, principal, parent, or another trusted adult. If the bullying persists, encourage them to keep telling someone. If they don’t find relief from that individual, urge them to approach someone else, ensuring they advocate for themselves. If all else fails, don’t hesitate to contact the police department, and we’ll do everything in our power to resolve the issue.”
